Travel Montage

While I was on a trip to Turkey during my vacations, I got a chance to shoot this. My teachers and peers really liked it. It was recorded by visiting different places in Turkey, specifically in the places Cappadocia, Istanbul and Konya.

Production

Image
Today, we went to my friends house where we set up the bands studio. This helped me record the band scenes and this is where I recorded the lip syncing as well

Risk Assessment

These are some of the potential risks I might face during filming. - Filming on the road could be dangerous, hence road safety should be noted. - Driving and filming can be harmful. - Some shots taken from risky angles could be harmful. - One of the band members in the music video smokes frequently.

Here's a draft of my storyboard.

Rainy Day

Here's a video I recorded while coming back from school in the car. This song inspired me to record this as I felt it went perfectly with the atmosphere and setting of the day.

Prop List

I made a list of all the things I would need in this video and those were: guitars, musical equipment, speakers, a microphone, a laptop and a sketchpad.

Preliminary Task

Image
Here's a short video I made in class with Umair as the actor. The song was chosen quickly and randomly and we did not have a lot of times to shoot and edit this. However, this is what I quickly made. Roughly edited video. The superimposition in the end with the clock was particulatly very fun to edit!

Location Scouting

Image
I looked for numerous places to shoot the different scenes of the video at. These are the locations I decided. The first two are the bedrooms of the characters. The last photo I have shared is of the studio. .

Synopsis

Two different artists live similar lives while being connected by one song. Will they end up meeting?

Rainy Night

Here's a video I made on a rainy night in Islamabad. The fact I love about this video is that I used this song particularly is because I was listening to this song the entire ride. The raindrops looked exquisite falling down on the windows hence I recorded it.

Project Inspo

https://youtu.be/5dmQ3QWpy1Q This video is particular of my interest because I hope to convey a subject like depression. https://youtu.be/_l09H-3zzgA The strokes have portrayed an excellent depiction of depression while making the audience listen to a relatively upbeat tune. https://youtu.be/w8vsuOXZBXc The imagery of anxiety/depression is phenomenal in this song by paramore.

Music Video Plan #3

Another song I really wish to make the music video is on The National's Mr. November. It's a truly beautiful song that makes the listener wish to run away somewhere far. I feel like various themes could be explored with this. The impact of this song is let alone powerful, hence the music video can be too.

Music Video Plan #2

I wish to explore a theme where the audience can get clues about what's to happen. An example of this is my idea for the song 'A 1000 Times' by Hamilton + Rostam. The genre I hope to explore is 'horror' or 'thriller' I initially show a depressed young man who has the same daily routine as he wakes up. Every single day, he goes for a walk and picks up a rose on his side table. The audience get the impression that he's seeming to be missing someone. However, in the conclusion is the plot twist revealed that would truly terrify the members in the audience.

Project Ideas

There are numerous videos that have inspired me and some noteworthy bands are Arctic Monkeys, Interpol and Hamilton.

Intro

Hey! I will be posting regarding my media studies work, and any other projects I will be doing relating to media. Will be updating regularly.

Music Video Plan #1

I wish to make a music video where a story takes place. Where one can get clues from start to end about what the audience can derive the story from. I believe the best music videos are made in this way. The first song - The Struts - Could Have Been Me I imagine a young man struggling to make it through his career, to have his big break. And he keeps looking at the artist of the song for inspiration and to not lose hope. The song becomes his escape and he wishes to frequently listen to it from which he can imagine his career as well. After numerous times he considers fails, numerous songs and the daily work routine, in the end, as the bridge comes, he comes to see himself in the artists place. He has finally made it through.

Music Video Plan

I have numerous ideas on my mind about which song to go for. But for now I am currently confused between the songs: The National - Mr. November Hamilton & Rostam - A 1000 Times The Strokes - Undercover of Darkness

Techniques

Image
Here we practiced a technique in school where we played a song faster than its speed and to sync the song with the video, we made Umair (our actor) lip sync to it quickly. Whereas when it was done, we added a slow motion to the video for it to be perfectly alligned. Here are our results

Music Video Song

The song I have decided to go with is The Notwist - Consequence because when I instantly heard it I knew I wished to make a music video on it. I think it's greatly produced and it would help my project as I love the sequence of the beats as well. I picture a music video while listening to it.

Project

For my Media Studies Music Video, I will be working solo for an opportunity to showcase my skills in the best way I can.
